Abhinaya Taranga is a Theatre Training School, based in Bangalore.
Started in 1964 by a group of artists, as a series of theatre workshops at Kalamandir (the first fine arts school in Karnataka), Abhinaya Taranga was later developed into a fully functioning theatre school in 1981 by Sri A.S Murthy with the support of Dr. Rajiv Taranath, K. R (Keeram) Nagaraj and Dr. Vijaya.
Initially designed as a Sunday School of Drama, the institute had NSD alumni Sri Ashok Badardinni as it first principal. Subsequently Sri Venkata Subbaiah H. V, Prof. B Chandrashekar, and Sri H.G Somshekar Rao havebeen principals of Abhinaya Taranga.Smt. Gowri Dattu is the current principal of Abhinaya Taranga since 2003. Jnanapeeta awardee Prof.Chandrashekar Kambhar and Dr.Rajiv Taranath have served as chairmen.
Sri K.R Nagaraj (Keeram), Sri Parvathvaani, Sri K Y Narayan Swami have served on the advisory board of the school.
Sri Basavalingaih, Sri Janardhan (Jenni), Sri R Nagesh, Sri Suresh Anagalli, Smt S. Malathi, Sri Pramod Shiggaon, Sri Prakash Belavadi, K.G Mahabaleshwar, Sri Manjunath Badigere, Sri Shashidhar Barighat and Ms. M.D Pallavi have directed productions for this school.
The guest lecturers for this school include Sri Marulusiddappa, Sri Vivek Shanbhag, Sri Rajaram, Sri Shashidhar Adapa, Sri G K Govind Rao, Smt Lakshmi Chandrashekhar, Sri Manu Chakravarthy, Sri Keshav Rao, Sri C.N Ramachandran, L N Mukundraj and Sri Nataraj Huliyaar.
Sri Surendranath, Sri Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar, Sri P Sheshadri, Sri Jogi, Smt Jayanthi Marulusiddappa, , Sri Sundernath Suvarna, Sri Aneesh Victor and Prof Lou have conducted workshops for the school.
